birds love waterfall -too much!

I have a small two tier waterfall(about 8-10' course) ending in a
small 90gal pond.

I had it made partly to attract birds to my property. Well it's
working alright. Maybe too well, Think every bird in my town is
coming for a dip. I don't have in it cause my two Labs would get out
their fishin' poles ;-}

Being a newbie, is there anything I should know before it's too late
about maintaining a clean and healthy water area even though it's
small and I don't have fish. No algae/moos problem yet.

TIA

All the best,

Larry

Hi Larry,

You can read the algae primer (link in my sig) for
everything you ever wanted to know about algae.

If your labs are showing too much interest you
can always use an electric fido fence.

I have two labs who don't swim (much to my DH's
disgust ;-) the only duck they've ever carted around
is a stuffed toy duck...
Anyway, they don't bother the pond after their
puppy years when they dug in the mud and picked
spawning goldfish out of the water.

Today I sat by my lily pond and watched a small goldfinch decide how best
to go about getting a drink. I thought, just hop on a lily pad, I'm sure
they'll hold you up, and sure enough that is what she did. Nice drink and
off she flew. :o) (I just had to share that.) ~ jan
