A few days ago, someone posted a ballpark rule of thumb on how often your
water should circulate through your pump system. I can't find that post.
Does anyone have that info?

Most people go for between 1/2 and twice or more per hour.
A Pondmaster 2400, which uses 265 watts, will pump 1700 gph @ 6' of lift or
1500 gph at 8' of lift or head pressure. Head is a combination of lift and
friction from piping.

As a rule of thumb, the total volume of your pond should circulate through
the filter about once every 2 hours.

For a veggie filter, it is suggested that the flow be once
every 4 hours.

As you can see there is no one answer. Here is a web page that will
give you times for flow rates through filters.
