Golden Orfe

Does anyone have experience with Golden Orfe fish. I have read that they a
schooling fish which swim close to the surface.

I had nine in my pond at one time.

Yes, they are a schooling fish so need to
have a 'bunch' of them. They get fairly large,
mine got to be almost 10 inches long. They
hang out on the surface and strike at bugs
and such. They will scare the koi into doing
the same thing at times.

Some states have banned them. My state,
Washington, has listed them as
deleterious and exotic.

I have a few about eight years old. They are very visible fish. They like
to go after bugs and will jump to get them. They haven't been available
around here in the past year or two.

Thank you for the information. There is a fish supplier near Rochester, NY
that sells the Golden Orfe and they were intriguing when we were looking at
them. I think I will get some this summer.
