Pond vacs
Can anyone tell me if the one's operated by mains water pressure are any
good. i.e. Do the job of clearing out the accululation of muck and leaves. Thank you. Mack |

Mack ================== Prepare for a HUGE water bill. :-) If there's a lot of muck and leaves you'd be better off emptying the pond and refilling it. Just removing the muck and rotten stuff from the bottom doesn't make the water "clean." It will be full of dissolved organic matter, minerals etc. -- McKoi.... the frugal ponder... Mack Try getting a pool skimmer net with a fine mesh,. I've found those work fairly well, you can just scoop the muck and leaves out, and dump it somewhere in the garden. -S |

Mack They clog up real fast (assuming you're talking a venturi type valve on a hose?). Shop vacs work much better. If you have one, try it first. Some work, some don't, they _all_ waste a huge amount of water to do the job. If you can combine the vacuuming with watering the vegetable garden, it might be worthwhile. -- derek |
