Does anyone grow "Just Joey" in a cooler climate? Apprantly from the lack
of response, nobody has Bronze Star which I bought this weekend. Bronze
Star is a cross between Just Joey and some unknown seedling. My book says
Just Joey has its best colors where there are hot summers-- which does not
exactly describe Seattle. (mild winter but not hot summer).

Does anyone grow Just Joey where it's not too hot? I'm wondering what I can
expect from this Bronze Star. Also, is Just Joey a prolific bloomer?

I have neither. I think there are folks here who grow JJ but the problem
is the qualifier "cooler climate." Fully most people here grow in fairly
hot places, though thank god we have a fairly good mix now that isn't
dominated by any part of the country.

you would really like the rose Whiskey Mac, I think.

J. Joey is a very prolific bloomer here, but have no clue what it will
do in either too hot or cooler climates. Here, it is usually just right,
and neither the cool spells nor the too hot spells last longer than
three days, so do not qualify to say anything about either of those
growing conditions. Fragrant, rather nice in every aspect, but this
place is a bit too easy on all roses so my opinion is probably not worth
much for you. FWIW.

Well, that's more than I knew before! If your weather is not "too hot" as
you say-- that's more what I was wondering about. We don't get a really hot
summer in Seattle, which is supposed to improve Just Joey's color. What is
the color like in your "not too hot" climate?

Well, that's more than I knew before! If your weather is not "too
hot" as you say-- that's more what I was wondering about.

I see. Our summer averages are probably higher than yours, but it does
not get too terribly hot here compared to other places along the West
Coast. Our average summer high temperatures are about 77 degrees,
according to what I cna look up. Sometimes we get abominable heat waves
when things can get real ugly and shoot up to anywhere from 95 to 110
degrees, but then, almost within three days, everything will calm down
and the cool air from the ocean will move in.

Perfect. That's what I was thinking. Bronze Start is supposed to be a bit
darker than that, so if that holds true I'll be plenty happy.

Thanks Henry. I don't know how I missed that. That raises another
question-- Helpmefind says "repeats its bloom later in the season". Does
that mean once? Or does it mean "everblooming"?
