My miniatures from Nor'east arrived yesterday. It didn't take veyr long
after I got home to get them into the bed. ("Dinner, you want *DINNER*
when there are rosses to plant?") Beautiful little babies; three of
four with buds and one of which will open probably today.

Anyway, I ened up ordering: Center Gold (fragrant yellow), Dazzler
(white petals w/ red edge & splash of yellow at base, fragant), Golden
Halo (yellow, fragrant), and Overnight Scentsation (mauve, fragrant). I
know, quite ecelectic colours but since I have yellows, various shades
of purple, white and pinks in the bed already, I figured it would work.
*grin*

Of the scentsation line, I decided I simply *must* have Overnight after
reading its description. I worked at NASA Goddard for a while and, to
this day, it was my favourite place to work ever so Overnight's
connection with NASA made it the scentsation must have.

Checked on them this morning and the plants were beginning to open up
and some of the leaves that had shown a slight hint of yellow from
shipping were now green.

I love mixed up colors. As for minis, I want to see how yours do--as 2004
will be the year I order a bunch. I have only Climbing Rainbow's End
coming this year--potted, and later in the season. I like the idea of
growing minis to hide the bare knees of the hybrid teas, though I am not
sure how well this works.

I never knew this. I was thinking of ordering it because it reminds me of

Well, Dazzler won the first to open race. Looking at the little bloom
yesterday which it selfishly tried to hide from me, it became
immediately apparent why this rose is named Dazzler. Can't wait to have
it and the DD blooming at the same time! It's intersting that OS looked
to be closest to blooming when I put them in but still hasn't fully
opened yet.

My minis are focal points in my bed that edges the walkway. I do have
other plants that hide the bare knees of my roses simply to act as a
weed deterrent in those beds.

There's some additional info on Nor'east's site about OS's connection to
NASA. I simply can't believe the bloom isn't open yet! Fortunately,
it's right on top of the plant instead of hidden away like Dazzler.
Those roses sure can be very stingy little givers despite everything we
do for them!

Susan - still looking for a local "waif" Chrysler Imperial to put with
Pristine - I'm thinking those two will make a good barrier to keep the
kids out of the bluebird box nearest them!
