The Late Great Oscar Wilde, was Hi Larry,

Sad but true. Remember the saying "there are those who know the price of everything and the value of nothing"? "A cynic knows the price of everything and the value of nothing." Oscar Wilde, who may very well have lifted it, since he also described himself as loving one liners so much that he would "stab his best friend in the back for the sake of writing an epitaph on his tombstone." He also said "A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world." Paraphrased, I am afraid, as it is from memory. He also said "After twenty years of romance a woman looks like a ruin. After twenty years of marriage she looks like a public building." He also said, when responding to a gossip: "I never listen to what tedious people say, and I never interfere with what charming people do." He also got two years hard labor for "indecent acts in private with other men," but that is another story. I'm sure he said something about roses, too. Oh, yeah. OT. :0) |
