Roses generally don't do that but I know a lot of flowers do. Flowers bloom at different types, there are some flowers that only open in evening, stay open at night and close during the day, and with other flowers it is the other way around. This is the first case that I have heard of roses doing such a thing but I wouldn't worry about it, to me it just sounds like they are absorbing the light during the day and closing at night.
