moving a minature rose.
 

Hi everyone, i am new here, looking for advise.

My Mother has just passed away and lives in rented accomodation, she had a minature rose, which i want to remove, to be planted by her grave later on, I realise it is probably not the best time to move the rose, but we have to vacate the property soon, and i need to keep the rose untill the grave has settled, before planting.
What is the best thing to do regarding pots, compost, care etc, also should it be pruned and when.

I keep a couple of miniatures in pots. If the compost is fresh and
it's not in there for long you probably won't even need to feed it,
though if its in for more than a couple of months, a feed will be
necessary - roses tend to be hungry, and compost doesn't last very
long, even John Innes.

You don't prune miniatures other than for shape. I pruned one once
that got out of whack (grew too much on one side), was a litle too
over-enthusiastic and even now, two years later, it hasn't
approached the same size it was.

I too learned the hard way on the pruning. The nice thing about minis are they are pretty hardy. They seem to be able to handle most of what I dish out. The one thing my minis seem to get are the aphids. I have heard of using a spraysmarter but I haven't tried that yet. I found a site that might work for your spraying needs. spraysmarter.com
I think you will be ok with your replanting and what a lovely idea. I am sure your mother will appreciate her little roses staying right with her.
