Compte de Chambord (was:Thornless roses)

: BTW, D, do you have Comte de Chambord? His flowers work beautifully in that scheme that you are describing, plus the fragrance is out of this world. I don't know why I've resisted Compte de Chambord all these years. I grew one in the early days of my first romance with OGRs, about thirty years ago. But the rose that really captivated me at the time was Jacques Cartier, another Portland. I've maintained my affection for Portlands but for some reason haven't gone back to Compte de Chambord. Maybe this is the year to get nostalgic. A very kind local rosarian just gave me a beautiful 4-foot tall Mme Hardy, another rose I used to grow, so perhaps this is a signal that I should (so to speak) revisit my roots. :-) ---- |
