Mildew or what?
Okay this is the2nd year that my roses has been aflicted by this.
Last year only one climber had white powdery (mildew?) on it, so I cut it way back to remove all the white powdery substance. This year almost all the roses (save a few) have the white powdery substance on them. I dont know if it's because of the amount of rain we had this year, or what. Most of them get full sun from sunrise to about 4:00pm. Last year I tried a chemical (can't remember the name of it) that was supposed to rid the white powdery stuff from my roses, but it didnt work at all. Any suggestions short of cutting back my 7 foot bushes this early in the season (thats just the growth this year, I always cut them way back every winter, I wonder if this could be the cause of it). On a side note, I went out to get some lady bugs at my local nursery to cure the aphid problem that cropped up this year at my home, but they were out, I just mowed the lawn today, and I saw lots and lots of lady bugs, perhaps one of my nice neighbors had beaten me to buying them. :-) |
