Planting a rose bush+cremated ashes?
Hi guys,
Our dog was put to sleep 3 weeks ago, we had him privately cremated and thus we have his ashes. We were thinking of planting a rose bush in his memory. This might be a stupid question, but if I add the ashes to the soil I use for the rose bush, will it "ruin" the planting phase? Thanks, Emil |

Ashes are usually very alkaline! Where do you live? If your soil
conditions are already a high pH it is probably not a good idea. However if your soil is acid the ashes will help raise the pH. TT "Emil" wrote in message ... Emil, so sorry to hear about your dog. I think you are doing a very lovely
thing. I think ash is alkalizing so if you have acid soil now, it may help the rose. Take care, Jane "Emil" wrote in message ... Emil,
There's a poem called Rainbow Bridge that can be comforting to anyone who has lost a pet. You can find it at this website: http://www.rainbowbridgepetmemorials...idgestory.html (Note, it's a commercial website, but I have no interest whatsoever in it.) You might look at Rainbow's End (a miniature) http://www.nurserysite.com/clubs/pen...nbows_end.html Anne Lurie Raleigh, NC "Emil" wrote in message ... "Jane" wrote in message t...
