Miracle Roses

Hi All,

Just thought I'd pass along a recent success. I moved to a new home last
September and had to transport my 15 rose bushes in temporary containers.
Unfortunately due to a whole lot of busy-ness over the winter, spring, and
summer, they were only planted in their new beds a month ago. They actually
lived in the containers through most of a growing season. I know that is a
bad deal for them but I can't believe how hardy they are. Since they have
been planted in beds of 1/3 each, compost, topsoil, peatmoss, they are all
coming back from the brink and are looking healthier by the day. I am so
pleased I just had to share. They have a ways to go but I think they'll
pull through. Next spring will tell the story.

On the deer issue: I have a rather large blacktail buck and his lady love
hanging around the place but my dog seems to be protecting the roses. I
have not noticed any damage so far. I would like to put that buck in my
freezer next month but my wife will have none of that. She thinks I should
drive 6 hours to go hunting. Go figure that one.

Really enjoying all the information in this venue.

Now, now, we don't wish to seem uncivil *over* at rec.pets.herps, but
I'm sure you appreciate that its one thing for US to post off topic to
each other, but quite another standard for off-topic cross posts.
Especially in light of the recent visigoths-disguised-as-collie-fondlers
episode we just endured and all. ---DCLXVI
