I sent my fiance the same thing; but it was an inter-racial
relationship. And I didn't know anything about rose colors at the time.

Maybe the number of white roses is significant - 1 month? 1 year? On our 3rd
anniversary, my husband sent me a dozen roses -- 9 red, 3 yellow. So
romantic! sigh
