Default Starting a new clipping in a potato?

I just ran across this really odd tip of placing a rose cutting into a
potato and then planting the potato, to root the rose. Has anyone come
across this or done this to know if it works? I would think the potato would
root, among other things, unless you're supposed to cut the eyes off first.
It was the vaguest instructions I'd ever come across. ;-)

Thanks in advance
