US hog-poultry group to import European wheat

A group of US hog and poultry producers, Wilmington Bulk LLC,
said Tuesday it planned to import 100,000 tons of wheat, ignoring
recent criticism from local farm groups for buying cheaper feed
from Brazil, Reuters reported. Jimmy Kissner, president of the
North Carolina group, said he preferred wheat from the UK but did
not rule out supplies from France, a key rival to the US in the
global wheat export market. Six hog and poultry producers
comprise the consortium, including hog and turkey producer
Murphy Brown, part of Smithfield Foods Inc. On Wednesday
Louis Dreyfus was reported to be seeking a ship to move 22,500
tons of wheat to the US East Coast for November dates. Dreyfus
earlier shipped two cargoes of feed wheat to the US -- the first ever
such sale from the UK. Follow the latest global ag news in Ag

That is a good way to even the playing feild.

In the UK and France who owns the corn? In the US the grain not in the loan
that has expired belongs to framer or to who he sold it to. The story I hear
from my grain dealer is te higher wheat goes the less he is offered. He has
considerable stocks of his own and has not plans to sell until next month.

So at least in some cases the farmer can get the high price for all the
wheat he has in storage. I had a landlord that sold 5 years wheat for 7.52
when the Russians bought all the wheat in the 70's

Do the UK and French farmer get any of that money or do you sell to a
marking group?

Gordon
