Plausible population support productivity figures / sq.Km?

Rodents are starting to need food more like people. Stay with
ruminants they can use food that humans can't.
I thought it was one of those genotype things, not phenotypical.
Eg, rats being able to synthesise from other vitamins most of the
11 (?) vitamins a mammal typically needs, whereas humans can only
synthesise a smaller range. (Vague numbers, sorry.)
If you live by the sea it is a great source of food and
convenient way to get rid of characters that become untidy
without and fuss or muss.
:-) Nice idea. Alas, the sea's hundreds of Km away -- for now.
