Taiwan Cherry

Has anyone in the area tried to grow any of the Taiwan Cherry (Prunus
Campanulata)? I keep reading good things about them, but never seen or heard
of them in Texas. I was thinking of making an internet order.

Never heard of it. I guess it's an ornamental? Do you have a link for an online source?

If you Google it you can get some info and raves about it. It is definitely
ornamental. It is supposed to be a good flowering cherry for our USDA zone 8
and heat. Of course, the same disease and insect problems as with all prunus
species down here. They are supposed to bloom late Feb. with a fantastic
display. 'Okame' variety also has great red fall color too. If you are in
the UK you probably won't have need for one.

No, not in the UK. About 100 mi. S of Austin. I did search yesterday and found info. As a Taiwan cherry, never heard of it. As 'Okame' cross, I'd seen references to it.

I didn't see any white-flowered variants, so it's ruled out for me.
