gnat hell

Greetings -- I have these little gnats living all over
my door and window screens. From what I can tell they
are hackberry psyllids (I looked at them under a
magnifying glass and i.d.'d 'em from an insect book).
Anybody know how to get rid of them? We have two
hackberries in our back yard (one is coming down soon,
the other is still in good shape and will stay). The
don't seem to be localized on the back part of the
house -- they're everywhere. I wonder if Gnatrol
would get rid of them? I don't think they're fungus
gnats. Thanks for any ideas -- M9

The psyllids would have to have a larval stage where they would ingest the
Gnatrol.

I think as it gets colder out, the numbers will decrease. All wasps are
beneficial in one way or another so if it were me, I'd leave them be.

I suppose if you want to spray them with something, citrus oil would be one way
to go. It's pretty corrosive stuff, so rinse door jambs, etc after using it.

Hi,

We used to get gnats too and they would multiply like crazy until there
were swarms of them -inside the house. I tried several things to get rid
of them without much luck. I finally tried vacuuming them with a
shop-vac and it works quite well! I started vacuuming bugs off my
vegetables out in the garden with great success too!
