Do you think the grubs will be out early this year due to all the warm
weather?
How do you treat for grubs?
Where can one get the best products to treat for grubs - I hate them as they
destroy my lawn and plants.
Also, snails and slugs chew my poor flowers!

Best treatment for grubs is beneficial nematodes. If you want to treat for
grubs wait until about 4 weeks after you see the Jun bugs and then put the
nematodes down. The grubs you find now have done all the damage they will
do. It is the new hatch in the spring that eats the roots. You can use a
bug bait for the slugs and snails. Green Light makes a good one which will
also take care of the pill bugs.

Pill bugs are harmless for the most part... Just don't let any veggies
touch the ground.

Worked far better for us than cheap beer. They seemed to prefer the
Irish Ale.

The discovery was actually accidental...

I don't drink beer, dad does. We were out of the cheap stuff for snail
bait in the dishes, so he put out what he had in the 'frige.

I swear it attracted at least 3 times as many slugs as the Dos Equis did!

Dad commented that slugs just had good taste. G

Armadillos, of course. I've seen 4 in the yard in daytime this
weekend. Which is usually my daytime-armadillo quota for the
year.

My poor guy who lived in our yard for almost seven years, way beyond
life expectancy has died. He came up near the house to die. Every
night at about ten the neighbors dog would "woof" and I knew the
opossum was out there, and he was. That's when they emerge, about
ten.

They crawl into it and drown.

Shallow plant bottoms holding about 1/2" to 3/4" deep have worked. I
think they get drunk. I've watched them. At first they just crawl to the
edge of the beer and drink, then they crawl into it and die.

They are attracted to the yeast used in making beer, not the beer
itself. There are other methods I've used which does not require
killing them. Open a package of dry yeast, or a cube if you know what
that is, and paint it onto a smooth piece of wood and place it where
the slugs are the most concentrated. In the morning you can lift the
board and put the slugs elsewhere. If you can identify the eggs and
put them elsewhere in a dark, moist place on soil, that will reduce
your population.
