Crepe Myrtle bugs

I have small black beatle type bugs eating my crepe myrtles. Anyone know
what they are and the best way to treat. Thanks

Crepe Myrtle bugs

Do they spit liquid out? Are they quick moving and try to stay on the
opposite side of the branch as where you are? Are they about 1/4 to 1/2
inches long and skinny? If so, they are likely leafhoppers and they are
*******s.
Try insecticidal soap. Dunno if it works yet but that's what this group has
recommended before.

Insecticidal soap works on insects that are soft bodied. It will not work
on insects that have a hard shell. The theory, which seems to be pretty
sound, is the soap washes off the waxy coating that soft bodied insects have
and cannot live without. Hard bodied insects do not have this coating and
soap is ineffective against them.
