What's the best dang garden fork you can get?
 

I know, I know! This has been discussed more than once already, and I
*know* how you guys hate talking about a garden subject again. ;-)

I've got a garden fork head that I've had for at least twenty years.
The times are thicker front-to-back than they are side-to-side, so you
can really crank down on the thing. The problem is that the tang is too
big to go into any of the replacement handles I've found. So I'm
finally tired of fooling around, and ready to buy a good fork.

What do y'all use/like?

Keep in mind these are border forks and digging tools, but we have very heavy
soil with rocks and these are not heavy duty tools. I mean, they are fine to do
heavy work with them, but be careful and don't force or push too hard on them.
I would go as far to say these are more forks and other tools which are great
for an established bed, or areas which are irrigated and not hard as a rock.
They are beautiful and the price is absolutely amazing. In this case, the lower
price does not reflect poor materials. They are beautiful. I have them.

What's the best dang garden fork you can get?
 

I have been searching for about 10years trying to find a fork like my
grandpa has, and have never found one made with tines that thick. I have
a cheap one but have just about used it up. my Dad has an old good thick
one that he has welded a steel handle onto. If you want to save your old
one, weld a handle on it! If you find a good one to buy new, I might be
interested in buying your old fork.

I have a fork that is over 60 years old. I used it as a kid to cultivate the
garden. I can not find a handle to accommodate the thick tine of the fork.
It originally fit a long handle. I can not find anything to fit. If you do,
let me know. It was a wonderful tool before the handle broke from age and
abuse.

Just a thought but there is a WoodCrafters Shop on 183 east of Burnet
and all you would need to do is go by there and ask if they know
anyone (likely a customer) willing to turn a new handle for you. You
might be able to locate a handle that almost fits and get someone like
that to fit it for you.
