Try googling "cucumbers" "recipes" and you'll find any number of ways:
boiled, fried ....

Thanks Klara. Would you believe, I've only just realised gherkins are
a form of cucumber! LOL! Bought some from a stall the other day by way
of something different. You live and learn.

AFAIK Gurken is cucumber in German....
