Default Mimosa pudica

Hi. I bought a sensitive plant (mimosa pudica) at the weekend and it seems
pretty potbound, so I would like to re-pot it. I don't know what sort of
soil it likes though, would ordinary houseplant compost do? There is loads
of much-the-same info on the internet about this plant but every site I
visit fails to mention the type of soil to use and my houseplant book just
says that re-potting isn't necessary!

Thanks in advance!

Tracey

The houseplant book may well be right, so if I were you I'd ask the people
from whom it was bought.

But, if it does need repotting, ordinary soil is fine. It must be
well-drained.

Yes, the word soil being the only thing worth noting, like acacias they seem
to do better in soil based compost rather than a peat or bark based one.
They do not seem to mind being pot bound but I imagine would achieve a
larger size if not.

Thank you for the advice, Sacha and Nick! Have repotted in ordinary compost
and made sure it has good drainage.
