Has anyone used a Scarifier Blade attachment to Petrol Mower ??

Does anyone have experience of the Petrol Mower - Scarifier Blade
attachment.

It looks like a normal blade but it has a spring tine on each end of
the blade.

Does this actually work ???

What appearance on the grass does it give ??

Does the moss etc get bagged up as normal cut grass ???

As nobody had answered my first message, within a reasonable time, I
sent it again.

It seems there was too much talk about the US and the flooding, and my
original message had got buried inamongst them all.

Thanks anyhow.

See my reply of 2nd Aug

Answer: Yes I've got one of these blades 'resting' in the shed. Attach in place of standard blade (comes with several adaptors to fit). Fire up the mower and watch the grass fly!

Does a fairly good job although rather aggressive, you have to get the 'mowing' height right or else you get a 'desert effect'.

It does work, although does remove a hell of a lot of the grass blades, and the appearance is no where near as good as a standard scarifier.

It will collect some in the grass box although there is so much removed (as a standard scarifier) that you will be stopping to empty the box ever few feet. Probably best to rake up by hand later then run over with the mower (usual blade ) to collect the smaller bits you missed.

Best bet is to hire a professional petrol machine, these leave a better finish. But the attachment you are talking is not very expensive and does actually work.
