Where can I buy a vee belt online??

Does anyone know where I can buy a vee belt for a lawnmower online?? I
suspect this number defines it: Z887

If I buy it as a part cost will be around £25 inc from mower supplier
Hilltop Lawnmowers, who don't have it in stock anyway.

You may be better off measuring it and going to your nearest motor factor.
Measure the width across the back of the belt, the face that has or had the
writing on it, this will give you the width, if it's either 10mm or 12.5mm
that is good. Then make a mark on the belt and measure round the
circumference to get the other dimension which will be all you need.

Or you may find on it something like '10-825', which would be good because
then you can use the belt from a fiesta.

Yes, this is most definitely the cheapest approach. I buy my belts
from a local specialist bearing and belts stockist. They always have
what I want in stock at a fraction of the price that it would cost as
(in my case) a Kubota spare. They also always take care to match the
two belts as it's a twin belt application.

That's fairly typical. V belts are standard industrial items and
widely available. Take the old one with you when you go to buy.
Dunno about online but if you look in the yellow pages (can't remember
the category offhand) you'll find a local supplier selling power
transmission parts like belts and chains.

BTW iirc Z is a conventional V belt 10mm wide and 6mm deep. I think
the number specifies the length.- should be about 2 quid + VAT

Thanks for the three replies. There is a motor factor and a belt stockist
half an hours drive away, but that hours drive will negate any saving if I
do it specially and is what I'm hoping to avoid. I'm suprised that I can't
find an online stockist - or even someone selling sized vee belts on Ebay.

Yes you're right on width and length (in mm). Dunno about the price, but
under £5 sounds OK . . . whereas for £25 I'd hope to get a free lawnmower
with it.
