As someone else points out, almost certainly slow release fertiliser (e.g. Osmocote). They caught me, too! These things turn up several times a year in our garden. We never use slow release fertiliser and rarely buy established plants. We've had this garden for almost forty years, they can't be left from all that time ago. What's more, an enthusiastic son once monitored them and whaddyaknow? They hatched! I don't know what emerged because by the time I was called to see the hens had scoffed them. Perhaps they were dragons? Mary -- Not in my name: http://www.stopwar.org.uk/ |

I was assuming that the camellia was one bought in a pot, but I agree that was a careless assumption. What's more, an enthusiastic son once monitored them and whaddyaknow? They hatched! I don't know what emerged because by the time I was called to see the hens had scoffed them. Perhaps they were dragons? So you live in Wales, do you? Yes - or snail eggs. Mary -- Not in my name: http://www.stopwar.org.uk/ No - definitely slow release fertiliser. Make an almost satisfying pop when pressed. Slug and snail eggs are softer, and slimy and sticky when popped, which you will do deliberately one or fewer times. TrevR |

Nick Maclaren wrote in message ... Absolutely not. I was assuming that the camellia was one bought in a pot, but I agree that was a careless assumption. The original post did say about REPOTTING, so I must assume that they are fertiliser granules. Slug and snail eggs usually tend to be white or pale cream, not yellow, and don't have a hard coating, usually very squishy, and usually in clumps. Mike www.british-naturism.org.uk |
