I had this amazing non sequitor from Amazon this morning

"Greetings from Amazon.co.uk,

We've noticed that customers who have purchased books by Beth Chatto
have also ordered "Luhmann on Law and Politics: Critical Appraisals and
Applications (Onati International Series in Law & Society)" by Michael
King. For this reason, you might like to know that this book is now
available. You can order your copy for just GBP 22.00 by following the
link below.

Luhmann on Law and Politics: Critical Appraisals and Applications
(Onati International Series in Law & Society)
by Michael King (Editor), Chris Thornhill (Editor) "

Am I missing something here?

a mate who writes codes and programmes for computers told me the amazon system is automatic, and if enough people order a certain book and have also recently bought another the email you received goes out. for specialist books/cds the number of people needed to send said email out when two items are bought drops considerably. obviously the number of people needed for popular items like say a U2 cd or flintoff's autobiography the # of people needed rises
