Petrol Mower - Which One?

Hi All,

I'm currently starting a small gardening business and have a maximum of £250
to spend on a petrol mower.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a reliable brand and even better a
model for within my price range.....

Thanking you in Advance

Simon

Yuo should get a decent reconditioned cylinder mower for that price
but I'd consider hiring. That way you pass the cost straight on to the
client and you get a machine chosen for that job. Folks will expect
your own machine to be included in your hourly rate and that rate
won't be very high anyway so keep your overheads down.

Wouldn't recommend a cylinder mower for commercial use. Blades will be
trashed in no time at all and not very manoeuvrable in & out of customer
premises due to weight.

I would recommend a Hayter hawk 41cm rotary which is kinda in you price
bracket (remember to haggle) this is a good size for most suburban
gardens dont even think of a cylinder mower it is just not suitable for
the mixed bag of lawns you will come across and will give you a hernia
lifting it out of the van.

I have seen one online for £278 I appreciate that this is a little more
than your price ( http://www.gonegardening.com ) you need a strong mower
and Hayter are a good make, remember when things get going you will run
that mower as much in a week as the average person will in a year. you
need a goodun.

I have three mowers in my stable a hayter 41 a hayter 48 self propelled
for the big stuff and a flymo for the slopes

good luck with you chosen profession

Chris
