Seed potatoes?
 

What can I do with leftover seed potatoes (besides share them with others
to plant)?
because some suppliers only do nets of 20 or more and I only need a few...
would the only other thing to do be sling them on the Comp heap if no one
else wants any?

(I assume they won't last till next year?)

If all else fails could you not eat them?

Whatever you do, don't put them on the compost heap unless you want a
compost heap full of potatoes! They won't last until next year, so why
not try planting one or two in a dustbin of compost and see what
happens? Of course, if you're like me you haven't got the space for
that...

Look for a supplier who will sell you smaller quantities, I found one near
Chobham, although he now does them in slightly larger packets, but he will
open them and just sell you the number you want.

Iver Flowerland sell them by the 'bucket' which are small and would hold
just enough for me, all I need are 6 - 8 tubers each of three varieties.

(I assume they won't last till next year?)

You could eat them!(:-)

Try asking around your neighbours to see if any of those would like to share
some with you.

Another approach, would be to get hold of the manager of your local supplier
and tell them that if you cannot buy small quantities of pots, there is no
point of you coming in to buy anything else, (s)he might just take the hint
and let you have smaller quantities.

They won't last until next year, so why

As you have said, already bought now.
But next year try a local allotment association. Ours sells seed potato
'loose'
so if you want five seeds then you can buy 5 seeds.
Or buy a net of 5kg or the larger 15kg bag.
If you want 20 metres of spud then they will calculate that for you
and sell the appropriate number.

We also have a 'seed share' I buy one 'net' of seed pots
you buy another (different) net We swap so we each have
half a bag of each variety.

I bought 6 nets (5kg each) all different.
But have planted 14 different varieties due to swapping.
Eventually I will know what grows well here and more important
which ones I like eating.

so if you want five seeds then you can buy 5 seeds.

Our local allotment association, stopped selling to non members years ago.

Which was a pity cos we have bought a lot of stuff from them in the past,
and you could not be a member if you didn't have one of their allotments.
