I've noticed a few posts on this forum relating to subjects that have nothing to do with garden banter. Is it not removed?

This is not a 'forum' it is a newsgroup!

If you were to try to use the internet properly and subscribe directly to
newsgroups, instead of using some foreign muck like gardenbanter, whatever
that is, you would know!

This is uk.rec.gardening, which is a Newsgroup, part of Usenet the original
internet. Take a look around Outlook Express and you may well find the word
newsgroup, have a play and you may actually find URG and 10s of thousand of
other newsgroups.
You will need your ISP's newsgroup server address which is usually easily
obtainable from your ISP (except for Wanadoo) with instructions on how to
set up your PC.
A whole world awaits.

How large a bridge do I need for growing trolls from seed?

Oh, I don't know... not very wide, or long, I should
think.... OT, but I don't s'pose you remember "Crystal
Tipps and Alistair"....

I think you're being rather snooty about this. If you use Outlook
Express, you still get the spam, though no doubt there will be ways of
filtering some of it out over time.

I appreciate the contribution made by some regular users of this group,
but really, they can be insufferably pompous and supercilious when the
mood takes them.

People arrive here from a number of different directions. Just like
gardening itself.

Please try to understand this.

I think you mean 'catalyist' where you should cross-post to rec.ponds
and alt.troll and ask 'bobandcarole' or 'cableguy/cable dude' to flood
this newsgroup with a Markov probability rendering of over 1500 posts in
a day.

Of course they do but I don't think the irritation is with from which
direction posters come. It's just that from mainly one direction they
often seem unclear exactly where it is they've arrived once they get
here.

To me it's as if folk are going travelling in a foreign country and then
complaining that everyone's driving on the wrong side of the road and
the signs are all incomprehensible. It's not unreasonable to think
people ought to be prepared to use tourist information, and guidebooks.

I think you will find it has already been done.
