What structure would you recommend for growing cucumbers outside . I'm
intending to grow some little lunchbox size ones. It mentioned growing
up a wire , how does this work ?

We have made a 3/4 legged wigwam over the plant and tied pea netting or
string around it, we have also made a ladder type structure with canes and
with supporting legs to keep it upright when the plants are heavy with
fruit. The plant then climbs up the wigwam/ladder with help from us and some
more string to tie it on.
That way the fruit are kept clean and are normally straighter than if left
to scramble over the ground.

In our previous garden, we built some frames 9we did it over afew years
as needed) at the end of some of the beds - from timber of scrap angle
iron ISTR, put wire mesh on them (started off with strings etc. but it
was more of a fiddle)

we used these for growing various things up.

My polish neighbours grown them on a wigwam like sweet peas on a
rotating wheel, no kidding. They also grow their gurkins in this way.
That way they get the sun all around :o)
