Lawn or border edging - aniseed twists?

I've got a quantity (heaped builder's wheelbarrow) of antique lawn or
border edging blocks that my wife refers to as "aniseed twists".

See photo:

Has anyone got any idea what these are really called, or how to best
describe them, and what they are worth?

Barley twist or rope top tiles.

or how to best describe them,

That depends on how pedantic the people you're selling them
to are.

and what they are worth?

The above information might be a help in deciding.

They're probably a bit too heavy for eBay, dunno.

Architectural salvage companies probably do a good trade
in them. If there's one nearby.

Worth a lot actually. I've found hundreds in my cellar when we moved to
our new house. I've used most of them in our garden and at the
allotment. I've even made a mozaic on one of them with our lotty
number.

This website sell them at 4 squid each. You're rich!!!

They look like repro concrete based imitations. The colour is wrong and as
such I do not think you will get a lot for them.

These are very common round here, been used on the old terraced houses
that were built about 1900's.

They were normally used in conjuction with the blue paviers. These
went out of fashion in the 1950's, and as if by magic everybody is
having them back again, or similar ones thou.

If these are the real old rope twists, which I think they are, they
worth a few quid each.

They were manufactured and are of the same hardness as 'blue bricks'.

Repros are on sale at every DIY shed.

The blue paviers were very slippy when algae etc got onto them. I have
just relaid a path with these paviers for a customer, and none are the
same size or thickness.
