leaves on hydrangea petiolaris

Theleaves on my climbing hydrangea have gone brown and flaky in the
centre between the veins. Can anyone tell me what's wrong? Is it just
the heat?
Thanks

Its the heat (and dry) Hydrangea petiolaris is designed to climb tree trunks
so spends its time mostly in the cool shade of woodland. It will recover.

I find that Hydrangea paniculata is also very vulnerable to the heat and
lack of water. Asters on the other hand, well at least the ones I got
from Waterperry last year, have stood up amazingly to all this weather.
