SWMBO has just cut some lavender from the garden, I happened to mention that
my mother and grandmother used to put the flowers in small bags and put them
in the drawers, I had been under the impression that it was just to use the
perfume, but she says it was to deter moths.

Is this true?

Alan

Yes, it's anti-moth as well as pro-nice-smell!

Thanks, and there was me thinking that it was just for the nice smell, just
shows I'm not right ALL the time!

Yep also if you infuse a bunch of lavendar in boiling water for about 10
mins or more, with a little salt and shower gel or some such, this makes a
very good soak for tired feet, not only leaving feet smelling sweet but the
oils in the lavender help to soften the skin.

Regret to inform you that on this one solitary occassion the Junta (SWMBO)
is right.
I don't think the modern day girls use it in their draws:-)

Do moths still live in drawers? I have never seen them, maybe the house
price rise has led to a moth migration.

I seldom see the moths; I do see holes in my woolly clothes though.
