Default Tree fern fronds are brown?

Hi,

My tree fern that i bought just after Easter has just begun to turn brown.
It's in a pot, in a relatively shady position, stem has been watered and the
soil conditions should be OK.

Now, i was wondering if these dying off are the old growth (3 fronds have
appeared since i bought it), mabye it was kept in a greenhouse over the
winter to keep the foliage to make it more attractive to the buyer in the
spring.

I was also wondering if perhaps as the weather has turned autumnal, that
it's just reacting early to the conditions (well it is a good 12c cooler
than it was 3 weeks ago) and thinks it's autumn?

Thanks for any help, hopefully it's nothing too complex. I reckon it's OK,
it's the other half i've got to convince! Might get some pics online if
someone feels that's necessary?
