Tea Tree oil on indoor plants?

Just had an idea which may or may not be stupid. (New to all this)
Got a light brown powdery fungus in some indoor coconut palms.
Would it help to wipe them down with tea-tree oil? If so should it be dilute?

I'm not aware that tea-tree oil has any pathogenic effect on fungi?

Canesten might help, or any treatment for athlete's foot, as these are
broad-spectrum fungicides. Test it on a single plant first :-)

Or Derris Dust (if they're still allowed to sell it).
