Oh Bliss!

I heard today that my next-door neighbour is planning
to get rid of his 18' Leylandii hedge... G

The only question now is "WHEN?"!!

How about an offer of help, that will please your neighbour and give you
the date?

If he's having it done by a garden contractor, that's a winter job
(when the pressure of lawn mowing , turf laying, strimming etc is off)

Congratulations...did he volunteer, or was he persuaded?

Oh, I had considered the 'persuasion' route (since we're not covered
by the recent legislation) but he has apparently decided that the upkeep
of said hedge is too time-consuming, since he is only at home from his
job in Azerbyjan (?) for a couple of weeks every few months, or so his
wife told Bill....the smile _still_ hasn't left my face! BG

Only 18'?

It's a mere baby :-)

And, like most babies, it's a damned nuisance, especially
since it's on the _south_ side of my garden, and alongside
the main drain....have you any idea how much it costs to get
a drain cleared, when it's blocked with tree roots?

Yes, but they're even worse as teenagers, like cupresses!

especially

That's unforgiveable.

the main drain....

That's irresponsible.

No and the thought scares me. Spouse has been cleaning a long gutter full of
needles preparatory to fitting a mesh. He got three sacks full ... and one
thing led to another so now all the very dead stems (trunks more like) of a
wild rose down there have been cut out and the local cats have an easier
access to the garden :-(

He goes for major surgery tomorrow so wanted to get things done in case he
dies. I said I'd instructed the surgeon not to let him die, there are too
many outstanding jobs.

My father had that done recently. They were able to do it from inside
(ie no digging to get at pipes), and followed up by putting a liner in,
which was then impregnated with some substance so that it set hard. It
cost hundreds rather than thousands, but was in any case paid for by the
house (buildings) insurance.

Suggest a "Leylandii Trimming Party"

Provide a table and some drinks (AKA Bottle of Single Malt) with suitable
canapés on your side.
When he can *easily* see the table without using a ladder tell him he can
have the goodies and you'll assist.

BTW
Is this the Anne Jackson of original UKRM fame ?

Now, _that's_ a good suggestion!

If I knew when he's likely to be home again from Azerbaijan I'd arrange it!
There's several bottles of single malt about the place....

It is indeed! AND I still have the CG125....haven't had any bikers
visiting recently, of course....hence the "several bottles of SM..."G

bitching about something.
Keeps their tiny minds busy ;-)

14 FFS!!!
Good lord.....You do breed em fertile from up there don't you.
Your daughter still a "Doorperson" ?

I *was* riding a Triumph Trophy 1200 up to a week ago when a mate said he'd
buy it.
I'm on a temporary pause in riding as the floaters in my left eye are
threatening to make me a little blind on that side. I don't trust meself on
a bike at the mo, so selling it.

The population of Scotland is falling....I did my best to redress
the balance, is all! G

She had a bad accident three years ago, and is now only working on
a very irregular basis....still looks scary, though! Totally bald,
shaved head, etc.

Better safe than sorry, sunshine! I've had umpteen offers for my wee
CG, perhaps I'll decide to sell it sometime...the car drivers out
there are getting blinder by the day! 8-(

How's your lovely missus? Well. I hope?
