fuschias from seed

I have been a little careless this year in dead heading hanging baskets,
have recently found large purple seed pods on Quazar fuschia, wonder if its
worth trying to grow seed, dont suppose it will be true to type.
Any advice?

If you just want fuchsias, stick to cuttings, as seedlings will indeed
be unpredictable. But if you want some fun, and have space, the book
says sow in March or April in a temp of about 61F; when the seedlings
are big enough, treat as you would cuttings. Meanwhile, protect the
berries from birds while they ripen. When they're ripe, separate the
seed from the pulp in water, dry them out, and store in a cool dry
place.

If you go ahead with it, do let us know how you get on.
