renewing lawn

I'm just about to turn over the old moss infested back lawn.

Given that it's going to be lawn again, what's the best tool to use to turn
it over. Rotivator or cultivator? I intend to stir in some compost too.

I understand that a rotavator digs deeper, but I don't think I necessarily
need deep.

Thanks

If I had a moss problem I would be turning in some sand, a lot of sand, to
improve drainage.
