Beans, carrots and potatoes can all be planted outside.

Here's a useful site for when to plant what:

Not sure about cucumbers......

Now is the time to browse catalogues, either paper or on line, of seed
merchants, one of gardening pleasures. I have my seeds already, I use
Dobies as I find them competitively priced and their service good. If
you send for their catalogue they have handy information on when to sow
what. The sad thing is (in my case) the actuality never quite meets my
anticipation! ;-)

May I suggest you send to some seed catalogues which will show you the
varieties available and lots more information besides. Sowing information is
usually on the packet and you will learn from experience when you can plant
for your own area of the UK, as a rule of thumb plant early for the south
and later for the north, but there are exceptions.
Garlic should be in already but you could probably get away with planting
some now. Broad Beans we used to plant in January. Shallots, onion sets and
early peas in February/March .......
May I suggest you get a good book on veg gardening which will help you over
the initial learning stage.
