Smile No catkins on my Corkscrew Hazel?

Hi all,

I've just joined and I was hoping that someone might be able to help me. A few weeks ago I bought a Corkscrew Hazel (Corylus Avellana Contorta) about 5 ft tall complete with buds. Now I've noticed that some of the buds have tiny female flowers showing on them, but no catkins. I keep reading other places that suggest catkins should either have formed by now or form in autumn before elongating this time of year, but I have nothing at all apart from a few female (bright red hair-like) flowers.

Was just wondering the state of other people's Corkscrew hazels or whether I'm just being impatient.

Thanks in advance!

Jeremy
