I am thinking of sowing some buckwheat to use as a green manure crop. Does
anyone know any do's or don'ts? Thanks Herman

I have never done it but I have read about it. I learned that you sow it at
the correct time in the spring and just before it goes to seed, you plow it
into the ground. Then you sow it a second time and plow it in the fall
before it goes to seed. It is supposed to be one of the best green manures
available.

Yes, pretty pink flowers too if you leave it to get to that stage.

This is the buckwheat I grow; nothing to do with wheatgrasss.

Pity they do not give the Latin name, so I do not know which one it is
in the Plants for a Future list.....

Searching Google images brings up a wide variety of pictures.
Maybe other plants are known as buckwheat in USA and Canada.

The organic gardening one is where I got mine from. Thanks everyone for the
replies, there are more people interested than I thought. I have also read
that the seed is good to eat. Herman
