Freemontdendron california.

It took 4 browsers before I found one which would open the image.

The usual form found in this country is Fremontodendron 'California
Glory', which is a hybrid between Fremontodendron californicum and
Fremontodendron mexicanum. I'm not sure that I could reliably
distinguish the forms, and the seed of the species I've sown seems
reluctant to germinate, even after heat treatment, so my hope of
comparing them side by side seems to be in vain.

If the OP wants to check out the identification he can see the relevant
bits of my web site.

Looking at the Fremontodendron right outside my study window, I'd agree.

Beware even more the not so little hairs on the seed pods. They're
nearly as bad as cactus spines.

Looks like some kind of Euphorbia. Does the stem bleed white sap?
