OT query - allergic reaction

However have recently been diagnosed as asthmatic after a 6 day stay in hospital december last year. It may be the inhaler that contains steroids that help me in what would have been a very sneezy June. snip I'm not asthmatic and don't use an inhaler though I've had bronchitis a few times in the last ten years, also a first for me.... Surely that wouldn't affect my eyes?! -- Sacha http://www.hillhousenursery.co.uk (remove weeds from address) |

I've never had hay-fever or any allergies in my life, but over the last couple of months had lots of sudden unexpected violent sneezes. Runner bean foliage has also become a new problem - it makes my arms itch. David (Don't know why but when I hit 'Reply' your msg. wouldn't show up on my screen.) I have had the sneezes, too and with no apparent rhyme or reason to it. I sneeze 7 or 8 times and it's over! I have always get that when I eat 70%+ Chocolate as did my father. Doesn't stop me though. :-) Ooooh, now that's one I'm going to have to road test! ;-) -- Sacha http://www.hillhousenursery.co.uk (remove weeds from address) |

I'm suffering a bit with my eyes and have never, ever had hay fever in my life. They've been watery and a little itchy and the pharmacist told me that they've seen a lot of people this year who've never had complaints before. It's not an infection, apparently, just a reaction. This year for the first time, I have suffered from symptoms just as you describe above. Edward tells me that I have become sensitive to pollen. I also have a small difficulty with breathing occasionally and I am just hoping that I am not becoming asthmatic in my old age. Judith Oh dear, this does sound a bit familiar - see my reply re asthma upthread and earlier bronchitis. My mother suffers from bronchitis and is 89 but until I moved to Devon I'd never had it. In fact, I was very indignant when I was told that's what I had. However there are times now when I find myself short of breath in a small way, too and now I'm getting all these replies on urg, things are starting to come together. I hate going to the doc at the best of times but with such vague symptoms, it's even more embarrassing. But shortness of breath is definitely a feature in my life - I hadn't tied it all together. -- Sacha http://www.hillhousenursery.co.uk (remove weeds from address) |

I am on a lunch break and I was, until a few seconds ago, sitting on a bench overlooking some beautiful white roses. After a minute, my eyes are prickling and I am sneezing. Surely this is just an allergy and not the onset of asthma? Fiona, my elder daughter is asthmatic and has been since she was 7 but she didn't have my symptoms so I guess that there are two problems, one is sensitivity to conditions and two, maybe the onset of asthma. I will be back in the hospital in half an hour so I will have a word with someone. Judith |

I know my eyes water in sunlight but my specs have those reactive lenses and darken in sunlight, so I don't think it's that alone. But today, it's not raining (mirabile dictu!) and my eyes are watering again, so I think it really must be an allergic thing. -- Sacha http://www.hillhousenursery.co.uk (remove weeds from address) |
