just select the obvious troll/nasty stuff - hold shift click on the last
and then select delete from the edit menu

If you use Outlook Express... After reading what is worth reading just right
click the folder uk.rec.gardening, click properties, click delete.
Everything gone. I find this daily clearout approach better than weeding out
individual threads or trolls who keep changing their names anyway.

But if you delete the whole thing each time you lose all the valuable
articles from the better contributors!

I treat the group like a daily newspaper. I read it then throw it away. If
any articles are really that useful for future reference I tear out the
article and save it (in a different folder). However, there is no real need
to save anything with Google at hand to find archives.

Hi all,

As you are all on the subject of OE, I have a question I hope someone can
help me with. Is there any way that I can copy and save a complete thread
either to a folder on one of my drives and away from OE or paste the
complete thread directly into a Word document? At the moment, I can only
copy or move emails and threads into another folder within OE and I'm
worried that I might either accidentally delete these or have a problem with
OE and have to re-install it, losing all the information.

At the moment when I want to save any important threads, I have to copy and
paste each email, one at a time, which is very time consuming.

I suspect the answer is no as I've searched and searched for an answer
everywhere I can think of but haven't found even a mention of being able to
do so.

I am now using windows mail. so cannot test this. previously in outlook I
was able to save messages as emails and was then able to store them
elsewhere. don't worry if you lose stuff, you can always check the archives
in Google.

Same approach. Using Turnpike, I can set everything to be deleted a
fixed time after reading it (I think I have set in on 24 hrs). If I want
to keep anything, I mark it to be kept (either individual posts or a
whole thread) and it just stays there until I change my mind.

And the Turnpike kill rules are very flexible, so I am untroubled by
cross-posts or by posters who I dislike.

If I did that I'd read it then spend the evening doing the Su Doku,
crosswords, then scribble moustaches on the people's pictures.

We are going to have to move from Turnpike because although it has been
excellent for all these years it is seriously under stress now that tom
has upgraded the windows and I.E. on the computer that receives all the
mail. It takes and age to go from a link in a message to I.E. and then
cobbles everything else up. It really does NOT like the new I.E. at all
in fact although we haven't even got the blessed software on the
computer any more it still seems to find the interface of the previous
I.E. when going to the web:)
