Depending on the type of tree from which they fell, they could take an
incredibly long time to rot down.

I would go with that, you could also put the leaves in bin liners ,put holes
in the bottom of the bag ,water them ,then leave them hidden behind the
shed, forget about them for a year. Then spoil the woodland
plants,Rhod`s/Camelias etc!

The worms do it with style.
You are probably better putting them in a binbag with holes in -
collect on a damp day and leave for a couple of years.

Depends on how many. A few will rot down quite quickly but a thick layer
will take an age to rot so if you have a lot either add them to your compost
heap or do what others have suggested to make leaf mould. I add quite a lot
to our plastic Darleks which we use for our kitchen waste and they rot down
quickly in those with all the wet veg and fruit bits.

That depends on where you got your fallen leaves from. I wouldn't use any
that were collected from the roadside, they tend to be really dirty.

If you have a supply of nice fallen leaves then compost them.
