Tomatoes and badly placed greenhouse
 

I have inherited a 6ft X 8ft greenhouse with my house and garden.
I would like to grow some tomatoes. Now the greenhouse is not best
positioned.
The long axis points approximately South East. (a bit more to the east
perhaps.)
But worse on one side immediately adjacent is the garden shed. This is
on the eastern side where the morning sun should come in. I was
considering putting the tomatoes on the shed side. Until I noticed
where the sun was going.
Would they be better on the sunny side? If so how much better? Because
I have other things I want to grow as well. At present at just before
noon in mid April with the sun shining there is no sun reaching the
shaded side. Moving anything is not on.

I was thinking of using Ring Culture but using Coir fibre in the base
where some would use gravel or peat. It is a matter of convenience and
of environmentally frienliness. Would coir be OK?

Neil, IMO whilst not ideal, I think you should be fine. I would say that the
temperature of the greenhouse is more important than direct sun (which can
be too severe). Sunlight is more important for the actual ripening of the
tomato, so by that time your plants should be getting more sunlight anyway.
