Allotment Site inspection

Just a query for those with council, or indeed other plots. How often
are plots inspected by 'the powers that be'. Our plots have been
inspected once a year up until now. It will change to quarterly
inspections as well as increased rent.

Ours are officially inspected once a year without anyone else knowing the
date/time but in truth they are inspected every time anyone from Leisure
Services visits. Good thing too as we had a person who had an allotment,
full stop. They paid for it but never, and I do mean never, looked at it.
Finally they have been evicted and their plot, having been cleared by the
Council, is now available for rent.

Our association inspects and advises the Council when a site has not been
tended for a while as there are insufficient resources made available for
the "Allotments Office". Works well though as we keep the site used better
that way.

If the extra rent is to cover the cost of the extra inspections
I suggest you talk to your local councillor.

Ours are annual inspections but they obviously have been keeping an eye open
every time they come onto the site as people have rightly been given notice
to quit if they haven't been keeping their plots cultivated. Stupid to have
plots an uncultivated mess when there is a waiting list.
Increased rent? Ours are £87 per year for 10 rods with 50% concessions for
OAPs. No hoses allowed and other than water nothing is provided. How does
that compare?

Probably to do with increased demand. How much is the rent, ours is quite
reasonable
