Monty; music query
 

Please did anyone recognise the music which was playing while Monty
was at the Old Railway Garden in the tea growing area?
It was so familiar to me, taking me back to my youth. It was the
signature tune of some long-running radio or early TV programme (of
the 50s?) and it's driving me mad trying to think what it was.

It just drove us mad. All of it! Too loud, too long, too much. Of all
places in the entire world that could speak for itself you'd think the Taj
Mahal would be it. And what happened - someone thought he could improve on
the devoted perfection which commemorates a dead spouse. We were spitting
tacks! Why are they so scared of silence?
After that personal moan, I think emailing the Beeb is a solution for you,
Pam, if nobody can help you here.

Can you add to that close up shots of the presenters head whilst he or she
is showing you how to do something? Gardening programmes are good at this,
and the darting of the camera from this to that back to this and back again
quicker than you can read me writing it?

Why why why do they do it? Stand back and keep the camera STILL!! :-((

That is one of the three most irritating things about TV.
1. Canned laughter added to none funny moments is enough to
make me change channel.
2. Those messages that pop up in the climax or last five
minutes of a really good film to tell you what crappy
programme is on next. It completely kills the atmosphere.
3. Previews added to the end of a program showing clips of
next weeks episode - I always grab the remote and change
channel before the spoiler starts.

Thinking about it, there are so many irritating things
about TV. Probably why I hardly watch it any more.

That drives the Mrs up the wall. She sits there cursing the
cameraman. An expert gardener, craftsman, artist etc
demonstrating how to do some fiddly or technical thing and
the camera is showing their face rather than what they are
doing.

missed something?

YW. I think it was a one-off to see what feedback the Beeb had. I hope
that it does continue, but I'm not holding my breath.
